Fore Saws Farm News - Issue No. 4, October & November 2025

Dear Friends of the Farm,

Fall has been wonderfully full around here—so full, in fact, we decided to bundle our October and November happenings into one big, cozy newsletter. Grab a warm drink and settle in; the farm has been buzzing with magic these last few months!

Welcome to the World, Baby Hyatt!

Right after our last letter, we were blessed with the arrival of our very first baby born on the farm. Mariah, our beautiful yellow Highland cow, went into labor while we were home, and in a stroke of rare luck, we were able to witness the entire birth from start to finish. It was breathtaking. If you’d like to share in the moment, we captured it on video and shared it on Instagram.

Choosing a name for our first farm baby felt like choosing a name for a new chapter—and we knew it needed meaning. Hyatt is the surname of our great-grandpa Hyatt, the first to settle this land and steward it with love. Naming our first calf after him just felt right, a perfect nod to the roots that still hold this place together. Hyatt grows fluffier and more full of personality each day, and Mariah has taken to motherhood like she’s been doing it all her life.

Now we wait on baby number two! Daphne, our red Highland, is due right around Christmas, and the whole farm is on high alert and full of anticipation.

Pumpkin Patch Joy & A Heartfelt fALL Festival

This fall brought our very first Pumpkin Patch, open each weekend with locally grown pumpkins, hayrides through the farm and something a little new to discover each visit. Your excitement made our first season unforgettable.

To close out the patch, we hosted our very first fALL Festival—a day dedicated to celebrating all abilities in our community. Every entry fee was donated to Arms Around ASD, a local nonprofit supporting adults with autism and their families. With volunteers from IC Imagine’s special needs class, the Enka FFA, and the beautiful art truck from Open Hearts, the day was filled with sensory play, animal visits, hayrides, music, and so much love.

Thanks to your generosity, and with our match, we were honored to present a $2,460 donation to Arms Around ASD. Our mission has always been to serve families in meaningful ways, and this day showed us exactly what that looks like. Our hearts are still full.

From Pumpkins to Pine: Holiday Magic Arrives

As soon as the hayrides wrapped up, our little Sawyer crew (Nonnie, Papa, and all the helping hands we could wrangle!) went straight to work transforming the farm for Holiday Tree Days. Lights were strung across all eight acres with the hope that, come Thanksgiving weekend, we could spark a little holiday magic for everyone who visited—or even just drove by.

It’s been a bit of a slow start, but we’re hoping this coming Saturday brings a festive crowd as Christmas draws near! Please help us spread the word to friends and family and come by for a visit from 2 PM - 7 PM.

Snowfall, Highlands, and a New Farm Pup

Our first snowfall arrived in November, and the animals had the time of their lives. Thunder and Lightning (our Shetland ponies) pranced around like they were starring in their own winter special, and the Highlands? Well… they’ve hardly used their palace since. Cold weather is their happy place!

We also welcomed a new four-legged family member: Duke, our Old Time Scotch Collie pup. He’s sweet, spunky, and already settling beautifully into farm life. The only one not sold on him yet is Johnny the donkey. When Duke arrived, Johnny made his feelings very clear with loud protests from his pasture perch. Ever since, he’s demanded extra pats—and occasionally a song—to make sure he’s still top dog… or top donkey, as it were. His personality keeps us laughing daily.

Looking Ahead to 2026

With Christmas around the corner, so is a brand-new year. We’ve started sketching out our 2026 farm calendar, full of fun events and special gatherings for both families and adults. We can’t wait to share what’s coming—it’s shaping up to be a magical year at Fore Saws Farm.

Thank You for a Season Full of Joy

It’s hard to believe it’s only been a little over three months since our grand opening. Your visits, your smiles, and your support have meant more to our family than words can say. Thank you for letting us be part of your memories—your hayrides, your pumpkin-picking, your tree-choosing, and everything in between.

We hope to see you on the farm again soon, whether for holiday fun or simply a peaceful walk among the animals.

With love and gratitude,

Taylor & the Fore Saws Farm Family

What’s New on the Farm

There’s so much happening at Fore Saws Farm this month, and we can’t wait to share it with you!

🫏 New Friends – Stop by the farm to meet Hyatt our 8-week old highland calf, full of fluff and funny baby cow antics. Also, help us welcome our new resident farm dog, Duke, who will be offering up lots of puppy snuggles to our guests and helping us herd our animals between fields next summer!

📣 New Cow Palace – We’ve finished the "cow palace" in the upper field so our pasture queens, Mariah and Daphne, have somewhere cozy they can access on-demand this winter. As we start to enter baby watch for Daphne later this month, the palace will also serve as a snug place for her and baby during the bonding period!

🧢 Farm Merch – We've restocked farm merch and will be ready to fill any open orders with expanded size offerings at the Holiday Tree lot.

🚜 Holiday Tree Lot – Tractor rides available every Saturday from 2 PM - 7 PM free of charge with purchase of a Christmas tree :) You won't want to miss it! Enjoy a special story and sing-a-long as you travel by hayride around our festively lit farm with complimentary hot cocoa in-hand.
