Dear Friends of the Farm,

Whew—what a month! This wild farm dream of ours is really starting to take shape, leaving us equal parts excited, terrified, and oh-so-grateful.

Late July, we expanded our goat herd to include three wethers (that's the fancy word for fixed male goats). It turns out that if you're experiencing girl drama in your goat herd (I'm looking at you Dolly and Lemon 👀) adding wethers to the mix can help settle everyone down ... and I'm here to confirm that this really works! We're excited to introduce you to Chief, Bandit, and Copper our newest goat family members. These boys are SWEET, I mean crawl in your lap all day long kind of sweet and have been the perfect addition to the herd. Aside from ending our lady goat drama, they have been great snuggle partners for us and the kids during our nightly chores.

This month not only brought us new goats to our family, but also mini-donkeys! I have seriously lost all sense of self control when it comes to cute animals and so now we have mini-donkeys ... and they are THE BEST! I introduce to you Johnny and June who are deeply bonded with one another and absolutely inseparable. These 3 year old mini-donkeys are sweet and sassy. Johnny has kept us laughing with his mischievous antics on the farm, chasing chickens, rolling in the mud and just generally pushing boundaries wherever he can. He's quickly becoming one of our animals with the biggest personality and a lot of fun to learn and bond with.

With our four-legged family growing, we called in Dr. Sarah for our very first "herd check". Every animal got a once-over, and we got the peace of mind that we’re feeding, housing, and caring for everyone just right. It's important to us that we offer our farm friends a life of luxury and are doing all of this new farm stuff correctly, so it was wonderful to have a professional look everything (and everyone) over. (Cue the Green Acres theme song playing in the background while we nod like we know what we’re doing. 😉)

One of the coolest parts of the herd check was that we were able to do an ultrasound on Daphne (our red highland cow) and confirmed her pregnancy. Seeing a baby highland on the ultrasound screen was the most amazing thing. It turns out highland mama's are very similar to humans in their pregnancy stages and leading up to delivery. Also, speaking of Daphne, turns out her hoof was a minor sprain and she's fully on the mend. Thank you for the prayers and good thoughts for our girl. She's healing nicely!

Mariah (our yellow highland cow) is progressing well in her pregnancy, too. So well in fact that we're a bit worried her little calf may make an early debut! When we brush Mariah in the evenings you can see and feel that 60 lb calf rolling and kicking in her stomach (CRAZY), so we're keeping a close eye on her as she gets closer and closer to her due date at the end of September. With due dates looming, we are very ready to have our new 24' x 40' barn installed on Monday so mama and baby will have a cozy home and so we can share it with you during the Grand Opening!

Speaking of —our Grand Opening is September 1st! We’ve been pouring our hearts into getting every detail just right and can’t wait to welcome you. Bring your family, tell your friends, and come ready to enjoy a space where life slows down—filled with animals, laughter, and fresh mountain air.

Thank you, truly, for cheering us on and supporting this crazy, wonderful adventure. We can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with you.

With gratitude and a little apprehension (we're really doing this!!?!),

Taylor
